Your comfort comes first

A few simple ways to practise safely

Meditation does not need to feel intense. Choose a comfortable position, stay aware of how you feel, and stop whenever you need to.

Choose a safe moment

Practise somewhere stable and quiet enough for you. Never meditate while driving or operating machinery.

Keep your choices open

Sit or lie down, keep your eyes open, and use sound or touch as an anchor if the breath feels uncomfortable.

Stop if it feels wrong

Stop if you feel dizzy, panicked, numb or more distressed. Look around the room, feel your feet, and return to ordinary activity.

Get support when you need it

Meditation is not medical or mental-health care. Speak to a qualified professional about symptoms that worry you, and contact local emergency or crisis services in immediate danger.

Every practice repeats these choices out loud before it begins.
