॥ दोहा ॥
विष्णु सुनिए विनय सेवक की चितलाय।
कीरत कुछ वर्णन करूं दीजै ज्ञान बताय॥
॥ चौपाई ॥
नमो विष्णु भगवान खरारी। कष्ट नशावन अखिल बिहारी॥
प्रबल जगत में शक्ति तुम्हारी। त्रिभुवन फैल रही उजियारी॥
सुन्दर रूप मनोहर सूरत। सरल स्वभाव मोहनी मूरत॥
तन पर पीताम्बर अति सोहत। बैजन्ती माला मन मोहत॥
शंख चक्र कर गदा विराजे। देखत दैत्य असुर दल भाजे॥
सत्य धर्म मद लोभ न गाजे। काम क्रोध मद लोभ न छाजे॥
सन्तभक्त सज्जन मनरंजन। दनुज असुर दुष्टन दल गंजन॥
सुख उपजाय कष्ट सब भंजन। दोष मिटाय करत जन सज्जन॥
पाप काट भव सिन्धु उतारण। कष्ट नाशकर भक्त उबारण॥
करत अनेक रूप प्रभु धारण। केवल आप भक्ति के कारण॥
धरणि धेनु बन तुमहिं पयाई। सुरभित दुग्ध सकल सुखदाई॥
असुर मारि सुर लोक सिधारे। धर्म की कीरति तुमहिं पुकारे॥
शेष नाग तुम आसन कीना। शेष सहस फन शीश धरीना॥
अमृत मंथन दैत्य हने तुम। देवन्ह काज सकल तुम किन्हे॥
मोहिनी रूप धरि असुर ठगे। सुरन्ह काज तुम सबहिं सगे॥
जब जब धर्म की हानि भई। तुम अवतार लियो प्रभु नई॥
असुर मारि सुर लोक सिधारे। धर्म की कीरति तुमहिं पुकारे॥
रमापति श्रीपति सुख दायक। भक्तन काज सकल तुम लायक॥
त्रिविक्रम रूप धरनि नपवाये। वामन बन सब दान लियवाये॥
नृसिंह रूप हिरणाकुश हन्यो। भक्त प्रहलाद काज तुम कियो॥
श्री राम रूप धरि रावण मारे। धर्म की कीरति तुमहिं पुकारे॥
श्री कृष्ण रूप कंस को मारे। धर्म की कीरति तुमहिं पुकारे॥
बुद्ध रूप धरि असुर संहारे। कल्कि रूप धरि दुष्ट संहारे॥
शेष रूप तुम सब जग धाता। तुमहिं आदि तुमहिं जग त्राता॥
ब्रह्मा विष्णु शिव तुमहिं ध्यावे। तुमहिं आदि तुमहिं जग पावे॥
अगणित रूप अनन्त अनन्ता। तुमहिं आदि तुमहिं जग त्राता॥
जो यह पढ़े विष्णु चालीसा। होय सिद्ध सकल जगदीशा॥
जो यह पढ़े विष्णु चालीसा। पाय मोक्ष जगदीशा॥

Vishnu suniye vinay sevak ki chitlay.
Kirt kuchh varnan karun dijai gyan batay॥

Namo Vishnu Bhagwan Kharari. Kasht nashavan Akhil Bihari॥
Prabal jagat mein shakti tumhari. Tribhuvan phail rahi ujiyari॥
Sundar roop manohar surat. Saral swabhav mohani murat॥
Tan par peetambar ati sohat. Baijanti mala man mohat॥
Shankh chakra kar gada viraje. Dekhat daitya asur dal bhaje॥
Satya dharm mad lobh na gaje. Kaam krodh mad lobh na chaje॥
Santbhakt sajjan manranjan. Danuj asur dushtan dal ganjan॥
Sukh upjay kasht sab bhanjan. Dosh mitay karat jan sajjan॥
Paap kaat bhav sindhu utaran. Kasht nashkar bhakt ubharan॥
Karat anek roop Prabhu dharan. Keval aap bhakti ke karan॥
Dharani Dhenu ban tumhi payi. Surabhit dugdh sakal sukhdai॥
Asur mari sur lok sidhare. Dharm ki kirti tumhi pukare॥
Shesh naag tum aasan keena. Shesh sahas phan sheesh dhareena॥
Amrit manthan daitya hane tum. Devanh kaaj sakal tum kinhe॥
Mohini roop dhari asur thage. Suranh kaaj tum sabahiin sange॥
Jab jab dharm ki haani bhai. Tum avatar liyo Prabhu nai॥
Asur mari sur lok sidhare. Dharm ki kirti tumhi pukare॥
Ramapati Shripati Sukh Dayak. Bhaktan kaaj sakal tum layak॥
Trivikram roop dharani napvaye. Vaman ban sab daan liyvaye॥
Narsingh roop Hiranyakush hanyo. Bhakt Prahlad kaaj tum kiya॥
Shri Ram roop dhari Ravan maare. Dharm ki kirti tumhi pukare॥
Shri Krishna roop Kans ko maare. Dharm ki kirti tumhi pukare॥
Buddha roop dhari asur sanhare. Kalki roop dhari dusht sanhare॥
Shesh roop tum sab jag dhata. Tumhi aadi tumhi jag trata॥

अर्थ: हे प्रभु विष्णु, आप अपने इस सेवक की विनम्र प्रार्थना को चित्त लगाकर सुनिए। आपकी महिमा का कुछ वर्णन करने हेतु मुझे ज्ञान प्रदान कीजिए।
O Lord Vishnu, please listen attentively to the humble prayer of this servant. Grant me the knowledge to describe a little of Your divine glory.
अर्थ: हे भगवान विष्णु, जो खर नामक राक्षस के शत्रु हैं, मैं आपको नमन करता हूँ। आप सभी कष्टों का नाश करने वाले और संपूर्ण ब्रह्मांड में विचरण करने वाले हैं।
Salutations to Lord Vishnu, the vanquisher of the demon Khara. You are the destroyer of all sufferings and the omnipresent one who pervades the entire universe.
अर्थ: हे प्रभु, इस संसार में आपकी शक्ति अत्यंत प्रबल है। आपकी दिव्य ज्योति तीनों लोकों में प्रकाशित हो रही है।
O Lord, Your power is supremely mighty in this world. Your divine radiance is spreading across all three realms.
अर्थ: आपका स्वरूप अत्यंत सुंदर और मन को हरने वाला है। आपका स्वभाव सरल है और आपकी छवि अत्यंत मोहक है।
Your form is exceedingly beautiful and captivating to the mind. Your nature is simple, and Your image is utterly enchanting.
अर्थ: आपके शरीर पर पीताम्बर (पीले वस्त्र) अत्यंत सुशोभित होते हैं। आपके गले में धारण की हुई वैजयंती माला मन को मोह लेती है।
The yellow silken garment (Pitambar) adorning Your body looks exceedingly beautiful. The Vaijanti garland around Your neck captivates the mind.
अर्थ: आपके कर-कमलों में शंख, चक्र और गदा सुशोभित हैं, जिनके दर्शन मात्र से ही दैत्य और असुरों की सेनाएँ भयभीत होकर भाग जाती हैं।
The conch, discus, and mace are resplendent in your hands. Merely seeing them, the armies of demons and Asuras flee in terror.
अर्थ: आप सत्य और धर्म के साक्षात् स्वरूप हैं; आपमें अहंकार और लोभ का लेशमात्र भी नहीं है। काम, क्रोध, मद और लोभ जैसे विकार आप पर कभी हावी नहीं हो सकते।
You are the very embodiment of truth and righteousness; there is not even a trace of pride or greed within You. Vices like lust, anger, arrogance, and greed can never overpower You.
अर्थ: आप संत-भक्तों और सज्जन पुरुषों के मन को आनंदित करते हैं, और दुष्ट दैत्यों, असुरों तथा पापियों के समूहों का नाश करते हैं।
You delight the minds of saints, devotees, and virtuous people, and You destroy the hordes of wicked demons, Asuras, and sinners.
अर्थ: आप सुखों को उत्पन्न करते हैं और सभी प्रकार के कष्टों का नाश करते हैं। आप भक्तों के दोषों को मिटाकर उन्हें सज्जन और पवित्र बनाते हैं।
You generate happiness and destroy all forms of suffering. You eradicate the flaws of devotees, transforming them into virtuous and pure individuals.
अर्थ: आप भक्तों के पापों का नाश करते हैं और उन्हें इस संसार रूपी भवसागर से पार उतारते हैं। आप सभी कष्टों का विनाश करके अपने भक्तों का उद्धार करते हैं।
You cut away the sins of devotees and ferry them across the ocean of worldly existence (samsara). You destroy all sufferings and deliver Your devotees.
अर्थ: हे प्रभु! आप केवल अपने भक्तों की सच्ची श्रद्धा और प्रेम के कारण ही अनेक दिव्य रूप धारण करते हैं।
O Lord! You assume countless divine forms solely due to the sincere devotion and love of your devotees.
अर्थ: आपने पृथ्वी को गाय का रूप देकर उसका दोहन किया, जिससे अमृत समान सुगंधित दुग्ध प्राप्त हुआ, जो सभी जीवों के लिए परम सुखदायक था।
You assumed the form of a cow (Prithvi) and milked her, yielding fragrant, nectar-like milk that brought supreme happiness to all beings.
अर्थ: आपने दुष्ट असुरों का संहार कर देवताओं को उनके लोकों में पुनः स्थापित किया, और इस प्रकार धर्म की महिमा और कीर्ति को चारों दिशाओं में फैलाया।
You annihilated the wicked demons, re-establishing the gods in their celestial abodes, and thus spread the glory and fame of Dharma in all directions.
अर्थ: शेषनाग आपका दिव्य आसन है, और उनके सहस्र फण आपके मस्तक पर छत्र के समान शोभायमान होते हैं।
Sheshnag serves as your divine couch, and his thousand hoods majestically form a canopy over your head.
अर्थ: अमृत मंथन के समय आपने दैत्यों का संहार किया और देवताओं के सभी कार्यों को सफलतापूर्वक पूर्ण किया।
During the churning of the ocean for nectar, you vanquished the demons and successfully accomplished all the tasks for the gods.
अर्थ: हे प्रभु! आपने मोहिनी का मनमोहक रूप धारण कर असुरों को मोहित किया और उन्हें ठगा, जिससे देवताओं के सभी कार्य सिद्ध हुए।
O Lord! You assumed the enchanting form of Mohini, deluded the demons, and thus accomplished all the tasks for the gods.
अर्थ: जब-जब इस संसार में धर्म का पतन हुआ और अधर्म का बोलबाला बढ़ा, तब-तब हे प्रभु, आपने नए-नए अवतार धारण किए।
Whenever righteousness declined in this world and unrighteousness prevailed, O Lord, You took new incarnations.
अर्थ: आपने दुष्ट असुरों का संहार कर देवताओं को उनके लोकों में पुनः स्थापित किया। इस प्रकार, धर्म की महिमा और कीर्ति सदा आपकी ही जय-जयकार करती है।
You annihilated the wicked demons and re-established the gods in their realms. Thus, the glory and fame of righteousness always proclaim Your victory.
अर्थ: आप रमा (लक्ष्मी) के पति हैं, श्री (ऐश्वर्य) के स्वामी हैं और सभी को सुख प्रदान करने वाले हैं। हे प्रभु, आप अपने भक्तों के सभी कार्यों को पूर्ण करने में पूर्णतः समर्थ हैं।
You are the consort of Rama (Lakshmi), the Lord of prosperity, and the bestower of happiness upon all. O Lord, You are fully capable of accomplishing all tasks for Your devotees.
अर्थ: आपने त्रिविक्रम (विराट) रूप धारण कर तीनों लोकों को नाप लिया और वामन (बौने) रूप में बलि से सब कुछ दान में प्राप्त कर लिया।
You assumed the form of Trivikrama (the cosmic giant) and measured all three worlds, and as Vamana (the dwarf), You received everything as a donation from Bali.
अर्थ: हे प्रभु! आपने नृसिंह का विकराल रूप धारण कर दुष्ट हिरण्यकश्यप का संहार किया और अपने परम भक्त प्रहलाद की रक्षा का कार्य पूर्ण किया।
O Lord! You assumed the fierce form of Narasimha to vanquish the wicked Hiranyakashipu and fulfilled the sacred task of protecting your supreme devotee Prahlada.
अर्थ: हे प्रभु! आपने श्री राम का आदर्श रूप धारण कर अहंकारी रावण का वध किया और इस प्रकार धर्म की महिमा को पुनः स्थापित किया, जिसकी कीर्ति आज भी आपको पुकारती है।
O Lord! You assumed the ideal form of Shri Rama, vanquished the arrogant Ravana, and thus re-established the glory of Dharma, whose fame still calls out to You.
अर्थ: हे प्रभु! आपने श्री कृष्ण का मनमोहक रूप धारण कर क्रूर कंस का संहार किया और पुनः धर्म की कीर्ति को स्थापित किया, जिसकी महिमा आज भी आपको पुकारती है।
O Lord! You assumed the enchanting form of Shri Krishna, vanquished the cruel Kamsa, and once again established the glory of Dharma, whose fame still calls out to You.
अर्थ: हे प्रभु! आपने बुद्ध का शांत रूप धारण कर असुरों को मोहमाया से विचलित कर उनका संहार किया, और भविष्य में कल्कि रूप धारण कर सभी दुष्टों का पूर्णतः संहार करेंगे।
O Lord! You assumed the serene form of Buddha to delude and vanquish the Asuras, and in the future, You will take the form of Kalki to completely annihilate all wicked beings.
अर्थ: हे प्रभु! आप ही शेषनाग के विराट रूप में समस्त जगत के आधार और धारक हैं। आप ही इस सृष्टि के आदि कारण हैं और आप ही संपूर्ण जगत के परम रक्षक हैं।
O Lord! You, in the colossal form of Sheshnag, are the very foundation and sustainer of the entire universe. You are the primordial cause of this creation, and You alone are the supreme protector of all worlds.
अर्थ: हे प्रभु! ब्रह्मा, विष्णु (स्वयं आप ही के स्वरूप) और शिव भी आपका ही ध्यान करते हैं। आप ही समस्त सृष्टि के आदि कारण हैं और आप ही इस जगत को धारण करते हैं तथा इसमें व्याप्त हैं।
O Lord! Even Brahma, Vishnu (Your own manifestation), and Shiva meditate upon You. You are the primordial origin of all creation, and You alone sustain and pervade this entire universe.
अर्थ: आपके रूप अगणित हैं, आप अनंत और असीम हैं। आप ही समस्त सृष्टि के आदि कारण हैं और आप ही इस जगत के रक्षक हैं।
Your forms are countless, You are infinite and boundless. You are the primordial origin of all creation, and You alone are the protector of this universe.
अर्थ: जो भी भक्त इस श्री विष्णु चालीसा का श्रद्धापूर्वक पाठ करता है, वह समस्त सिद्धियों को प्राप्त कर लेता है और स्वयं जगदीश (ईश्वर) के समान सामर्थ्यवान हो जाता है।
Any devotee who recites this Shri Vishnu Chalisa with devotion attains all spiritual perfections (siddhis) and becomes as capable as the Lord of the Universe Himself.
अर्थ: जो भी भक्त इस श्री विष्णु चालीसा का पाठ करता है, वह जीवन-मरण के बंधन से मुक्ति (मोक्ष) प्राप्त करता है और परमेश्वर के धाम को प्राप्त होता है।
Any devotee who recites this Shri Vishnu Chalisa attains liberation (moksha) from the cycle of birth and death and reaches the supreme abode of the Lord.
अर्थ: जो भी भक्त इस श्री विष्णु चालीसा का पाठ करता है, वह इस लोक में भी परम सुख और शांति प्राप्त करता है, और अंततः जगदीश (परमात्मा) के सान्निध्य में आनंदित होता है।
Any devotee who recites this Shri Vishnu Chalisa attains supreme happiness and peace in this world, and ultimately rejoices in the divine presence of Jagadisha (the Supreme Lord).
अर्थ: जो भक्त इस विष्णु चालीसा का पाठ करता है, वह जगदीश्वर (भगवान विष्णु) की अनन्य भक्ति प्राप्त करता है।
Whoever recites this Vishnu Chalisa attains profound devotion to Jagadisha, the Lord of the universe.
अर्थ: जो भक्त विष्णु चालीसा का पाठ करता है, उसे चारों दिशाओं से सुख और समृद्धि की प्राप्ति होती है। जो भी श्रद्धापूर्वक इस चालीसा का पाठ करता है, वह निश्चित रूप से परम मोक्ष को प्राप्त करता है, इसमें कोई संशय नहीं है।
The devotee who recites the Vishnu Chalisa receives happiness and prosperity from all directions. Indeed, whoever devoutly chants this Chalisa undoubtedly attains the supreme liberation (Moksha), leaving no room for doubt.
